… and Failure

with 8 comments

Just after I finished writing that last post, mere minutes I tell you, I managed to somehow, don’t ask how, format the memory card on my camera. 150 shots. GONE. Stonehnege? GONE. Shots of the famous political badger of the UK? GONE. Shots of the bee fearing man? GONE. Though I’m not sure they’ll mind, badgers in the UK are particularly shy I hear. Anyway, I was beyond upset, but hey, it gave me another reason to go back out to Stonehenge and have another look. Anyway, in Prague at the moment, will be here for the next three nights and then it’s on to Geneva. I must say that aside from all the sights we saw in the UK and the two awesome people I met and ranted and raved with, oh, and had delightful conversation too – driving was a blast. Except in Oxford where I somehow managed to get into the BUS ONLY lanes RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE BUS LANE CAMERAS. So maybe I’ve now managed to get a traffic ticket on two continents. Oh JOY!
Oh, and terribly sorry to report that the dead badger count reached 9. :(

Made it to London, some unnamed, but really great pub out in the boonies with two unnamed people, seen 3 – sorry korova – dead badgers on the side of the road, managed not to have any accidents or speeding tickets yet, made it to Salisbury – that’s a tale – and am now in Bath. Mhmm. Very nice. Have bunches to talk about, TONS of photos but no time, really. Soooo … hope y’all are all well, will do a proper update when I get home.

London

with 3 comments

I’ve arrived! Well, like 3 days ago, but have managed to fit in quite a bit so far. Today it’s off to some super secret rendezvous with two unnamed contacts who shall, for the time being, remain nameless.
*cough*
Hope y’all are doing well. Time’s a wasting so I’m off.

Ability to make the next 4 hours pass quickly? Really need to work on that. This waiting thing is going to kill me.

See y’all on the other side of the pond.

Ready for take-off
As you can see, Norton is also ready for take off. hehehe.

Squeak Squeak

After spending, I kid you not, seven hours on the phone with my bank this morning – I finally found a 24 hour number for reporting stolen cards that had a REAL PERSON on the other end – I got through to the Visa people who have ordered me a new card that will be delivered to me in London. So yea, still boarding with $5 in cash guaranteed for this trip. But, after a lot of tears and retelling of this whole debacle – AND after having the world’s most moronic imbicile tell me that the solution to all my problems with regards to my money was to take my debit card to my ATM on Tuesday morning and withdraw all the funds – I’m feeling much better. I’m still kinda astounded that even after hearing the whole tale the idiot told me that I’d have to use my debit card at the ATM if I wanted my money. I’d gladly do so – IF I HAD A FREAKING CARD.

The very charming people at Visa took care of everything. My bank, however, is still on the list – as an aside, that’s probably my favourite ditty from my favourite G&S opera. And yes, I’m fully aware after rereading the last post that I’ve probably blown this way out of proportion, but I was – and am still – very irritated and frustrated with my bank. Being anxious doesn’t help things either.

Anyway, things are looking even better this afternoon because my good buddy brought over some sustenance for me in the form of Girl Scout cookies when he heard I’d been on the phone for HOURS. Oh, and I guess he has a sense of humour because I got that “calm” drink too. And the company that makes it is called airforce. hah hah hah.

So cheers to things eventually working out, though my nerves are still running thin. And feast your eyes on these puppies. No, I don’t share them either. Ever. Mine. Oh, this reminds me of a really goofy joke: Why do Girl Scout cookies taste so good? Because they’re made with real girl scouts. hehe.
